## Minutes of FSUG TVM Meeting

#### Details of Discussion
- Discussion focussed on the usage of
`open hardware`, free firmware and how we
can develop and sell `RYF` certified devices
here , its prospectives like how we can
implement it by ourselves , how we can
harness the available resources within FSUG
- We also discussed about using `GNUKhata`
for the accounting of FSUG's activities.
We both who don't have an accounting background
decided to learn from the Plus Two Text book
of Kerala Syllabus.
- For moving FSUG's RYF activities ahead
we have planned to try for collaborating with `CDIT`
which is where Mr Tanzeem works. Also it was planned to talk to some of his
`contacts in the IT field (which includes CTO's in Technopark/ Thiruvananthapuram based companies)` who have interest in FOSS
promotional activities and have already given their willingness to invlove, in a discussion with Mr. Tanzeem earlier.
- Since this meeting prior to `` scheduled to be held on 20th and 21st Dec 2017
by `ICFOSS` has significance and the FOSS
community is awaiting many talks by noted personnels, of which the talk by the CEO ,
`purism` is of utmost significant and FSUG is eagerly awaiting the inevitable
change to the use of fully free hardware not
compromising a computer user's freedom
so that when he boots he uses `libreboot`
or `coreboot` and when he uses his computer OS
he uses only free firmwares and he can be
sure that all software he use is free software.
In addition he can also be sure that the
hardware accessories he uses are also
`non-tracking` and uses free firmwares.

- Libre office use and doubts
- Regarding openstreetmap as a replacement to Google maps, its advantages over google maps and how to contribute
### Decisions
It was decided to work towards building material for a screencast on how to use libre office.
For this, a document [LibreOffice Documentation](
was shared among participants, on the topics we have to cover, sample works to create and FAQ etc.
That we will work on this for a week, coordinate online when necessary, and meet after a week. to create the sample works.
It was decided to meet at Tanzeem's house for the next meeting. On 26th Nov (sunday)
# FSUG TVM meeting sunday 24/12/2017

Kiran has working experience on importing RYF devices on need.
I have told him that we will get back to him based on need and how we can go forward in the open hardware way.
The meeting went in the open hardware way.
For selling RYF(Respect Your Freedom) devices
Based on the discussion the following activities were
1. Shopping cart application (idea put forward by Tanzeem, work assigned to Hari)
2. client (idea put forward by Tanzeem, smartphone app that is cross-platform) -work assigned to Kamal and Hari
3. E-magazine for FSUG which may later be a print-magazine (This was discussed last Sunday itself idea put forward by Tanzeem)
4. Open-street mapping for Thiruvananthapuram (TBD, pls discuss in the group (probably from next sunday) or based on time and availability of members)
5. Maintaining a server for FSUG with e-mail for members and for others on request with 3 or 4 Rasp Pi (Suggested by Aji)
6. Mastering knowledge in use of GIMP, LibreOffice Writer/Calc and Scribus which will be useful for FSUG's future activities.
Hari have told that he knows these well including Tex (idea put forward by Tanzeem).
7. For document management for use of managing FSUG's documents Mayan EDMS is suggested (idea put forward by Tanzeem later, not discussed in the meeting)
8. Also the need for fund raising for the activities was put forward by Aji and acknowledged.
9. Another Installation fest focussed on RYF devices was also discussed ;idea put forward by Aji ,Tanzeem has told that this
time, he wants to do it in C-DIT (his place of work). Last time for the install fest at tvm (May-Jun 2017), he has arranged the State Central Library as venue.
