Proposal: Talk on IndieWeb
Abstract
Everything happens over the web now-a-days. Even our identities have started moving "online". Many of us use various platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Medium to share our experiences. However, we never stop to think of what will happen with our online identity(ies) if any of these platforms decide to shut down operations. We never stop to think that the content posted on these platforms isn't fully owned by us and there's only so much we can do with the available space that we quickly hit a brick wall.
IndieWeb (Independent Web) is a way of life where you own your online identity and are not at the mercy of big silos. Quoting from the IndieWeb website - "The IndieWeb is a people-focused alternative to the 'corporate web'."
